Spirit-Driven Commitment

Our Values: Spirit-Driven Commitment
Week of 9/24/17

Hanging Out (10-20 min)
Enjoy some casual time together catching up as a group.  Once you’re ready, ask the group this question:
When is a time that you grew most in your faith?

Covenant
-Have a printed-up version available for the group members to see.
-Have each group member sign one copy that you as the leader will keep.

Prayer and Accountability (20-30 min)
Remind your group of the Measures questions.  If you need hard copies of them, here is a link to the vision one-page sheet.  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BznuUIWFLGXdaWZGTlJuWS1sb00/view?usp=sharing

Invite your group to share how specific areas they shared last week are going or went.  Have them share anew their answers to the Measures questions.  If there is a specific one that your group chooses to focus on this week, that’s OK.

Have your group pray together.  If there is not time for everyone to pray, try to ask someone ahead of time if they would be willing to pray for the group.

Bible Study and Discussion (20-30 min)
Remember, the questions are just suggestions.  If your discussion goes in a great direction and you don't need these questions, that is fine!

1. Discuss the Ruth story from Ruth 1:1-22 that was preached on Sunday.

Ask: Why is Ruth’s story a good example of Spirit-Driven Commitment?

Ask: What impresses you most about Ruth as a character?

2. When you think about what it means to be “committed” in faith, to a church, what stories come to mind from your life?

3. Look up John 15:13 together.  “Jesus says: No one has greater love than to give up one’s life for one’s friends.”

Ask: What is the difference between “commitment” and “spirit-driven commitment”?

Ask: How is Jesus’ challenge difficult for us in 2017?
